My work for Mayor Kevin Johnson of Sacramento afforded me many opportunities to photograph local and national political figures and celebrities. Events of all descriptions are among my specialties. Click to see more political images.
I met Jim Papastathis at a time when I was just starting to photograph the Sacramento music scene. A friendship developed that resulted in meeting and having access to his bands and many others in the region. Jim's talents were unique and, as I told him on many occasions, his guitar always had something to say. Although he began in the business more than 50 years ago, he was still enthusiastic about improving his technique and writing and recording new songs, which he continued to do. He was an inspiration for me to never stop developing my own craft. This track is from one of his final recording sessions.
